St. Lucia Co-operative LeagueThe St. Lucia Co-operative League will be pleased to welcome your young delegates to our 8th Annual Caribbean Co-operative Youth Conference to be held from April 11th to 14th 2012, under the theme, ‘Building Communities, Promoting Youth Development”.

The Youth Conference is being held in conjunction with the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU) as one of the regional activities in celebration of IYC 2012. Arrival and departure will be on April 11th and 15th respectfully. The conference will be held at Arch Bishop Kelvin Felix Pastoral Centre, in Marisule, Gros Islet.

Accommodation will be provided for your delegation at the Four Springs Villa, in Rodney Bay. We strongly encourage societies to take full advantage of the early bird registration period. Early bird expires on 24th February 2012, while normal registration will end on March 19th. To qualify for the early bird registration, all fees and forms must reach the League by 24th February. All late registrations will attract an additional fee of US60.00.

The Youth Conference brings together young co-operators who are actively involved in the youth, school or community co-operatives and seeks to achieve the following results:

  • Develop an appreciation for the role that co-operatives play in nation building and poverty alleviation
  • Bring young co-operators together to share and learn from each other’s experiences.
  • Teach co-operative concepts and principles that the students need to enhance their societies’ performance.
  • Expose students to other basic skills that are necessary to create a well rounded individual.
  • Sharpen analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Develop the spirit of co-operation among young co-operators.
  • Provide a safe and fun environment where students can learn important life skills.
  • Be the catalyst by which co-operatives will grow.
