MADISON, Wis. — World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) turns 40 years old today. The global credit union trade association and development agency formally incorporated Nov. 9, 1970, in Madison, Wis., although its articles of incorporation state that WOCCU's operations "are principally to be conducted wherever credit unions are located."

The Chairman of the Eastern Caribbean Central Co-operative Ltd, Mr. Aaron Moses, has made an urgent call for the OECS Credit Unions to assist their brothers and sisters in the cooperative movement in St. Lucia.

It is with deep regret that the Caribbean Credit Union family has received the news of the untimely death on Saturday October 23, 2010 of the Right Hon. David John Howard Thompson, Q.C., M.P. Prime Minister of Barbados.

Regulators of Caribbean Credit Unions have assembled in Montego Bay, Jamaica from October 5 – 7, 2010 to participate in a Caribbean Credit Union Supervision Workshop.

The Workshop was sponsored by the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Center (CARTAC) and facilitated by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU).
